Explosive eggs, ‘mamaditas’ and cockroaches: this has been the most surreal episode of ‘Nightmare in the kitchen’ | Television on Cadena SER

On October 25, 2012, La Sexta broadcast the first episode of Nightmare in the kitchen. A program, presented by Alberto Chicote, in which the chef goes to different restaurants in crisis with the aim of rescuing them from a fatal end and helping them take a new course. Since then, seven years have passed in which the audience has been able to see practically everything.

We say practically because there is always room for surprises, as the Lolailo Tavern has shown this Thursday. A Valencian local, of Andalusian inspiration, who has ended up despairing of Alberto Chicote who had to face one of the most complicated challenges since he began his career in the program.

Chicote faces the ‘mamadita’

As soon as he arrived at the tavern, the cook found a shelf of esoteric books that caught his attention. After speaking with the person in charge of the premises, Mara García, she confessed her devotion to astrology: “We always ask clients for their horoscope.” In fact, and after Chicote confessed that he was Cancer, the local manager assured him that she would never go out for drinks with him.

After the pertinent presentations, Chicote was faced with a most peculiar menu: “The place is funny, but quite soulless … like the menu.” After ordering a portion of octopus and some croquettes, the cook found a meal that was not notable for its quality: “It’s the first time in my life that I eat octopus and it doesn’t taste like anything“.

Finally, and before getting down to work to go around the restaurant, Chicote tried the most special shot of the house: ‘La mamadita’. However, and given that he drank it, he did as any Cancer would do, that is, with prudence, he could not enjoy it, as Mara recognized: “He did not open his mouth too much.”

From the flying egg to the cockroach

After learning how they are spent in the tavern, the cook decided to take action on the matter and attended a service that did not exactly stand out for its organization. From Chicote’s point of view, the team was too slow and sloppy. So much so that they even broke an egg because it had been overcooked.

A series of details, like the fact that a small cockroach appeared on one of the dishes, which ended up making Alberto Chicote desperate. For the same reason, the Madrilenian decided to reunite the team and asked them to put the batteries in order to be able to take the tavern forward for the reopening of the premises.

A reopening that would have a very special guest. Taking advantage of the fact that the team had reformed the premises and the menu, the seer Rappel decided to go to the opening of the tavern. Once there, the seer shared laughter with those in charge of the premises and ended up trying ‘la Mamadita’.
