Explosions and drone attacks: what is happening in Iran now

On the night of January 29, a lot of information appeared on social networks about explosions in the production of drones, oil refineries and military bases in Iran.

Only a few of these reports have been confirmed by official authorities.

At first, social networks began to dazzle with messages that in Iran, in the city of Isfahan, an explosion was heard at the production of ammunition of the Ministry of Defense of the country. Like, it is there that Iranian drones are produced. According to preliminary information, no one was hurt.

Soon Iranian Defense Ministry confirms explosion at munitions factory due to drone attack, but calls it an “unsuccessful” attack. Allegedly, one of the drones was shot down by an air defense system, and the other two fell into defensive traps and exploded.

In addition, local media reported that a powerful fire broke out at the oil refinery in the industrial district of Salim in the city of Azarshahr.

Then, messages began to circulate in social networks that on the night of January 29, 2023 they report that Israel launches military operation against Iranbut so far nothing has been officially announced by the Israeli government or the military.

The source for disseminating information about the start of a special military operation against Iran was a message on the Twitter microblogging service of the Al Arabia publication, however, also to unnamed Israeli media.

Later at night, a message appeared on Telegram channels of an allegedly official statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Tonight we decided to attack terrorist organizations. Our response will be strong, fast and accurate. Whoever wants to harm us, we will harm him too,” the prime minister said. True, it later turned out that this was not an official statement, but a message previously said and taken out of context during the last meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, and this was said about terrorists inside the country. Now we are only talking about the fact that the Israeli authorities, after a new wave of terrorist attacks, decided to strengthen measures to combat extremism and strengthen security within the country. This is stated in a statement by the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following a meeting of the security cabinet, which includes key ministers.

Also at night there was information that in many cities the sounds of explosions were heard and air defense was working. There are reports of an explosion at an air base in the city of Dizful in western Iran, explosions and fires in the cities of Hamadan also in the west of the country and in the north of Rasht.

In some cities air raid alert is heard.

Also, they say, the Iranian revolutionaries started the battle in some cities. According to messages on social networks, Iranian air bases were transferred to a state of combat readiness, aircraft were raised into the sky, which flies quite low over cities – so that the glass in the windows of people was shattered.

There was also information that 5 Iranian military bases were bombed.

Currently, it is reported that the Internet has been turned off in Iran.
