An explosion was heard in France, Wales and England this weekend. Apparently it was the sound of an extremely rare meteorite, a fireball that crashed into the Bristol Channel.

According to witnesses, the loud noise was accompanied by a glow in the sky, observed in France, England, Wales and even Jersey. Experts who analyzed the captured images say it was an extremely rare fireball. They point out that the meteorite must have been very large in order to be observed around 15:00.
There have been many reactions in northeastern France, from which data suggest the fireball crashed into the Bristol Channel. Meteorite hunters say that if the fireball was bright enough to be seen during the day and substantial enough to cause a sound boom, it is likely to have left debris somewhere on Earth, he writes.
