There was an explosion early this morning at a chalet house in Tienhoven in Utrecht. The police say they assume a targeted action.

At around 05.30 am, the explosion went off at the house on the Maarsseveense Plassen. Images show that there is material on the ground that may have ended up there as a result of the explosion. According to RTV Utrecht were those things taken away by the detective?

No one was injured in the explosion. It is not yet clear what kind of explosives are involved.

Last night there was also an explosion in a house in the village of Hoef en Haag, about 30 kilometers south of Tienhoven. The police also assume a targeted action. It is unclear whether there is a connection between the two cases.

In November last year, a chalet house burned down in the same park in Tienhoven. In connection with that case, a 41-year-old man from Den Helder was arrested on suspicion of arson.
