Technologue.id, Jakarta – Coinciding with the launch of the Galaxy S23 Series 5G, Samsung also introduced its newest interface system, namely One UI 5.1. One UI 5.1 is the latest interface system from Samsung which uses the Android 13 operating system base.

The latest One UI software update is created with a variety of new customization, security and accessibility features that can make it easier for users to personalize and express their creativity.

Through One UI 5.1, Samsung strives to bring users the latest mobile experiences by giving them greater control over their smartphones.

One of them is Swipe Gesture which can replace the three classic navigation buttons below the screen, namely for Home, one for ‘Back, and one for Recent Apps.

To enable Swipe Gesture, go to the ‘Settings’ menu and then head to the ‘Display’ section. From here, scroll down until you find the ‘Navigation Bar’ subsection.

Once selected, the navigation buttons will disappear from the bottom of the screen. Instead you can use Swipe Gestures starting from swiping up for Home, sliding and holding for Recent Apps, and sliding from the side to return to the previous page or Back.

One UI 5.1 on the Galaxy S23 Series 5G also allows you to multitask more practically and easily with just the touch of a finger. This capability is offered through Samsung Labs.

For those of you who have to do several things at the same time, the Galaxy S23 Series 5G has the Labs feature for a more seamless multitasking experience. With Labs, you can maximize multi window capabilities for all applications to get a full screen view when using the split screen function.

You can easily use Labs features in the following ways:

  • Go to Settings
  • Pilih Advanced Features
  • Select Labs
  • Activate the “Multi window for all apps” toggle to make all apps work in pop-up screen and split screen modes
  • Activate the “Full screen in Split screen view” toggle to make the application display area wider when using the split screen function by removing the status bar and navigation.

An example is the existence of a special gesture to use the Multi Windows feature with just one swipe.

To activate this feature, you can open Settings, select Advanced Features, then select Labs and activate the Swipe for pop-up view and Swipe for split screen toggles.

When enabled, the “Swipe for pop-up view” option allows users of the Galaxy S23 Series 5G device to switch to a pop-up view of full-screen apps by swiping diagonally from the top-right corner of the screen.

Meanwhile, the new “Swipe for split screen” option allows you to swipe up from the bottom of the screen using two fingers to quickly activate split screen/multi-windows view.

This view is useful when you need to get information from one app to feed into another. Like when inputting credit card numbers or bank account numbers into another form. You can use this feature to view important information alongside different apps.

Furthermore, executing screenshot commands is easier with the Galaxy S23 Series 5G smartphone. Apart from using the physical button combination between Power and Volume Down, Samsung also offers other options for taking screenshots such as Palm Swipe, Assistant Menu and S Pen.

On some of today’s Samsung smartphones, the Palm swipe to capture feature is activated automatically. However, if you cannot use this feature, it can be activated first by going to Settings > Advanced features > Motions and Gestures > Palm swipe to capture.

After the feature is active, find the area to be screenshot. Then, sweep the screen from right to left or vice versa with your palm pointing towards it. If the screen flashes and the shutter sound is heard, then the screenshot is successful.
