Experience report from New York – part II – districts with their own identity – and their own history

I have big plans for the fourth day. A white fleet of small ferries now operates on the East River, connecting Manhattan with Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx and steering in a zigzag course across the big river. Wow panorama of the skyscrapers and changes are included in the moderate fare of a good two dollars each way. I want to save myself the trip downtown by taking the boat. I completely gave up wearing a mask in three days in New York. However, the crew insists that when boarding you wear a medical mask somewhere visible on your body. There is no talk of putting it on. Luckily there was someone at the pier who gave the things to the passengers for free.
