Exhibitor cancellations: Singapore Airshow suffers from corona virus

The aviation fair has fewer exhibitors than planned. Numerous companies avoid the Singapore Airshow for fear of lung disease.

The international aviation industry will meet at the Singapore Airshow 2020 from February 11th to 16th. But there will be less going on this year than usual. Some companies have decided to stay away from the event.

The reason is the fear of the corona virus. The city-state has now issued the Orange warning level – it is the second highest possible level. This was due to three new infections, in which no connection to visits to China or other infected people was found.

Fewer tickets, doctors on site

According to the Today newspaper, more than 70 exhibitors have now decided not to attend the aviation fair. Among the non-residents are Gulfstream, Textron and Lockheed Martin. In total, around eight percent of the exhibitors are eliminated, according to the organizer.

Meanwhile, measures are being taken to make the aviation fair safer despite the virus. For example, the number of tickets sold to the public is to be halved. Last year 80,000 private individuals took part. In addition, there should be doctors on site who can take care of visitors if they are not doing well.

Block for China travelers

Anyone who has been to mainland China in the past 14 days should not be allowed to enter the venue, according to Today. Visitors who feel sick or on sick leave are also not welcome.
