Exhibition The Rolling Stones: a look behind the (dirty) kitchen | NOW

Personal diaries, guitars, dozens of (show) costumes and a complete studio. Fans of The Rolling Stones can browse through the Groninger Museum from Friday between all kinds of items from the famous British rock band, when the Stones exhibition opens Unzipped. NU.nl has already listed a few of the highlights.

A look at Olympic Studios, the studio of The Rolling Stones – including Keith Richards ‘guitar and Charlie Watts’ African drums. In the studio in London the band recorded the first single Come On.

The (recreated) apartment on Edith Grove in Chelsea, where Mick Jagger and Keith Richards lived in 1962 when the Stones were founded. The two were not exactly stars in the household, as this glimpse into their apartment proves. Reportedly, the members of The Beatles have visited here once, and decided not to return after the visit, they thought it was that disgusting.

Pieces worn by Jagger, Charlie Watts and Brian Jones to concerts in the 1960s and 1970s.

Six costumes Jagger wore to The Stones shows. These are designs by Versace, Alexander McQueen and Dior. The right-most costume was designed by L’Wren Scott in 2012, who was in a relationship with Jagger until her death in 2014.

An impression of one of the museum rooms in the Groninger Museum. The Rolling Stones – Unzipped can be seen from Friday, November 20. Mick Jagger opens the exhibition on Thursday afternoon and talks to Leo Blokhuis.
