A pedestrian was also hit during a shooting incident between the police and a driver who was trying to escape a check in the town of Fourons.

A motorist driving a vehicle registered in Germany tried to escape a police check on Saturday afternoon in Mouland, by shooting at the police, said the Limburg prosecutor’s office on Saturday evening.
A chase followed, to Fouron-le-Comte, where the man got stuck. He then tried to force a motorist to hand over his car to him by threatening him with his weapon but the police arrived in the meantime and an exchange of fire took place. The fugitive was seriously injured and taken to hospital. A passerby, also injured, was also transported to a hospital.
The Limbourg public prosecutor’s office confirms the incident, which occurred around 4.30 p.m. The technical and scientific police went on site for a thorough investigation.
