On August 15, around 6:15 p.m., a police officer picked up the motorist while he was traveling at 159 km / h on the Kamouraska road in an area where the speed is nevertheless limited to 90 km / h.
This road is the link between the municipality of Kamouraska and Highway 20.
The 33-year-old driver from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield received a ticket of $ 1,458 and 14 demerit points.
His driver’s license was also suspended. In his case, the suspension period is 30 days “because the driver is a repeat offender in a similar matter”, raised the Sûreté du Québec.
It was the second time in a little over 24 hours that the MRC Kamouraska police officers issued a costly fine for speeding on their territory.
The day before, August 14 in the afternoon, a patroller caught a driver traveling at 127 km / h in a 50 km / h zone, in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière.
The 22-year-old offender, originally from Saint-Gabriel-de-Kamouraska, had also received a statement of offense of $ 1,458.
The SQ reminded that excessive speed can have serious consequences.
