Two weeks ago Lassaad Chabbi celebrated the greatest success of his coaching career.
The Austrian coached Austrian-born Raja Casablanca in April 2021 and won the CAF Confederation Cup, the African counterpart to the Europa League, together with the Moroccans at the beginning of July.
Then the 59-year-old former Ried trainer received another call from the Moroccan King Mohammed Ben Al-Hassan, which Chabbi revealed in an interview with “transfermarkt.de” that was well worth reading.
In general, Morocco is extremely crazy about football, said Chabbi. He shows this in an anecdote:
“The local people live and love their club, for them the club is their family. Whether at the doctor, on the beach or at the market: The whole week is really only talked about football. If the Moroccan league doesn’t do anything, it stops like Real Madrid or Manchester City played. As a trainer of Raja celebrity status for the first time in my life. Walking through the streets without asking for photos or signing autographs is not possible.
