Russian TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak was the first to report on Chubais’s illness. According to her, Chubais was in intensive care.

According to Sobchak, Chubais “became ill, his arms and legs suddenly began to take away.”

“I was hospitalized in one of the European clinics with a diagnosis of Guillain-Barré syndrome. The condition is moderate, stable,” Sobchak quotes a message from Chubais himself. In what country is Chubais now located, it was not specified. In early March, it was reported that he had been seen in Turkey.

Later, the information about the hospitalization of Chubais was confirmed by the Russian state propaganda agency TASS, citing an anonymous source in his entourage. According to him, Chubais’s condition improved on Sunday after receiving treatment.

Recall that in March 2022, Anatoly Chubais left the post of special presidential envoy for sustainable development and left Russia. Chubais resigned and left the country, citing opposition to President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine, sources told Bloomberg. He himself, however, did not make any public statements, either on this or on other topics, after his resignation.

Guillain-Barré syndrome is a rare disease in which a person’s immune system attacks their own peripheral nerves. In severe cases, this can lead to paralysis of the legs, arms, or facial muscles. In 20-30% of people, the chest muscles are affected, making breathing difficult.

This syndrome can affect people of any age, but it is most common in adults and men. Most people make a full recovery from even the most severe cases of the syndrome.
