Ex-boyfriend of murdered mother caught walking her baby on New York street; two orphan babies

Isaac Argro was arrested yesterday as a suspect in the murder of Azsia Johnson, the mother of his newborn baby.

Johnson, 20, was shot in the head while walking her baby in 95th St. y Lexington Ave., just a few steps from the “Samuel Seabury Playground”. A man dressed in black barged in and shot him at close range in the back of the head around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Paramedics rushed her to Metropolitan Hospital but were unable to save her. The baby was not harmed.

Argro, 22, is the father of the baby Johnson was walking when she was killed. He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, at the 19th Precinct in Manhattan. The news of her arrest was announced by on Twitter the New York Police Commissioner, Keechant Sewell, and Mayor Eric Adams issued a comment in the same way:

“Azsia Johnson’s family is suffering, they deserve justice and we will get it. I am relieved to inform New Yorkers that we have captured the individual we believe murdered this young woman while she was walking with her baby,” the Mayor of New York wrote.

From the beginning, the NYPD was looking for Argro, because the young mother he was shot on his way to meet his ex-partner, who had offered him clothes for the baby, police sources said, citing a text message Johnson had sent to relatives.

“He’s a coward,” he told Daily News Sandra Johnson, aunt of the victim. “She did nothing to him but let him see that baby, and he killed her in the street.” “Her daughter of hers will never know her,” she added disconsolately.

The young woman left two orphaned girls, since she already had another daughter with a previous partner. Argro was arrested yesterday in Brownsville (Brooklyn) and then taken to the police station located at 67th St, on the Upper East Side. The couple reportedly had a domestic violence incident on Jan. 1, but by the time NYPD arrived at the Brooklyn apartment they shared, Argro had already left.

Cops with the NYPD Domestic Violence Unit followed up and a misdemeanor assault charge was filed against Argro. But until Friday he was not arrested.
