After the second round, the winner of the US Open of 2016 shared the lead with four opponentsbut disengaged from them with a great third round. He played flawlessly and thanks to the eagle and five birdies he had a balance of -7. Overall, he reached a score of -16, which after three rounds equaled the record of compatriot Jordan Spiethe at the 2015 Masters.
Behind the 36-year-old Johnson, three players are in tied second place with a score of -12. Australian Cameron Smith and a pair of newcomers to the Masters – Korean Im Song-ce and Mexican Abraham Ancer.
American Patrick Reed and Spaniard Jon Rahm are in seventh place, respectively, but they are already losing seven shots to the leader.
Defending champion American Tiger Woods is probably far from his sixth green jacket. After a successful first round, he can’t score as much, he finished in the third day in a pair, he has a total of five shots below the standard of the field and is in the divided 20th place.
This year’s Masters was postponed from April to November due to coronavirus and is played without the presence of fans.
