ABU DHABI, 28th May, 2020 (WAM) — Evenings in the arts of Al-Taghrooda, Al-Radah and Al-Mankus, organized by the Poetry Academy of the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, attracted visitors to the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2023, including poets, writers, writers, and those interested in Emirati folklore.
The researcher and historian, Dr. Rashid Ahmed Al Mazrouei, participated in presenting the evening of Al-Taghrooda, and excerpts from the art of Al-Taghrooda were performed by the poet Salem bin Kadah Al-Rashdi, while Muhammad bin Hamid and Salem bin Kadah participated in presenting the evening of Al-Radah and performance. The poet Muhammad bin Mushait Al-Marri, a member of the jury of the Al-Mankus program.
The evening of Al-Taghrooda Art presented a lot of information and heritage data related to studies and research from the Emirati folklore, and touched on the most prominent poets and performers of this art and those who distinguished themselves in their career.
Dr. Rashid Al Mazrouei stressed that Al-Taghrooda is traditional Bedouin poetry and authentic folklore that spread in the UAE and some regions in the Sultanate of Oman, pointing out that the words of Al-Taghrooda art are usually direct and simple and do not include images or rhetorical effects.
He explained that the art of Al-Taghrooda is usually associated with camel riding, camel races, camel auctions, and heritage and national festivals, while some forms of Al-Taghrooda are integrated into some traditional performances in Emirati folk art, and this type of poetry is characterized by being direct and not using complex metaphorical images.
On the other hand, the evening of Al-Radah art dealt with the most important artistic characteristics that distinguish it and the roots of this type of art in the Emirati folk heritage.
The evening of the art of Mankus presented distinctive paintings of this Emirati and Gulf folk art, performed by the poet Muhammad bin Hussein Al-Rashdi, and presented by the poet Muhammad bin Mushait Al-Marri, a member of the jury of the Mankus program, who indicated that the melody of Mankus is one of the melodies of Nabati poetry.
The poet Muhammad bin Mushayt Al-Marri mentioned that Al-Mankus is an integral part of the ancient Gulf heritage, and given its great importance, the Festivals Management Committee for Cultural and Heritage Programs in Abu Dhabi launched the Al-Mankus program, which is considered the first of its kind in the Arab world, as this year it celebrated the success of the third season, amid Gulf participation. wide.
