Even though they have been vaccinated, Covid-19 patients can still experience happy hypoxia

Merdeka.com – Health practitioner Andi Khomeini Takdir said Covid-19 patients who had received vaccinations could still experience happy hypoxia. Happy hypoxia is a condition of decreased oxygen levels in the blood.

“Still (can experience happy hypoxia),” he said in a virtual discussion, Tuesday (29/6).

Andi Khomeini said vaccination does not protect a person from Covid-19. Vaccination, he said, only reduces severe symptoms or fatalities if someone is infected with Covid-19.

“Vaccination does not mean that the person will absolutely not get Covid-19. Vaccination is an effort to train our bodies so that they are familiar with Covid-19,” he said.

The doctor on duty at the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital (RSD) continued, although someone who has been vaccinated experiences happy hypoxia, his condition is not serious. This is different from happy hypoxia which attacks patients who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19.

“So happy hypoxia can still occur, but not as severe as if this person’s condition is not vaccinated,” he explained.

For information, data from the Ministry of Health on June 29, 2021 at 12.00 WIB, as many as 13,329,738 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine up to the second dose. Meanwhile, 28,304,774 residents who just received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine were 28,304,774.
