Even more Ryzen Mobile: The new XMG Core lets the customer decide

With the Ryzen 9 4900HS AMD was once again able to stand up to its competitor in the notebook market, like our previous ones CPU testing and GPU unit in the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 impressively proven. The mobile Ryzen processors can now be configured in the new XMG CORE, as Schenker Technologies has just announced in a press release.

Accordingly, the XMG CORE is one of the first notebooks in which the choice of platform and processor is in the hands of the user for the first time. The new XMG CORE 15 and XMG CORE 17 are available as an option with Intel’s Comet Lake H processors the tenth core generation or with a Ryzen mobile processor based on Renoir. Specifically, either the Intel Core i7-10750H with six cores and a clock speed of 2.6 to 5.0 GHz or the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with eight Zen-2 cores and clock speeds of 2.9 to 4.2 GHz are installed . The AMD variant can alternatively be equipped with the six-core AMD Ryzen 5 4600H.

The graphics solution has also been upgraded for the new M20 and E20 version, because while previously only dedicated GTX graphics cards were installed, there is now a model with the raytracing-capable units. The new devices can now up to the GeForce RTX 2060 refresh configure in the fast Max-P design. However, the entry-level option is still the mobile GeForce GTX 1650 Ti and the somewhat slower GeForce GTX 1650. This means that even the cheaper model variants are suitable for the most popular e-sports titles such as CS: GO, League of Legends or Rocket League.

Depending on the model version, the display uses a 15.6 or 17.3 inch IPS display with up to 144 Hz, which has a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The Intel version also has a MUX switch, which can be used to deactivate NVIDIA’s Optimus technology in the BIOS if desired.

When it comes to memory configuration, Schenker Technologies gives its customers plenty of configuration leeway as usual. The XMG CORE 15 and XMG CORE 17 offer space for two fast NVMe SSDs and an additional 2.5-inch drive. On the RAM side, up to 64 GB DDR4 RAM can be installed in the two SO-DIMM slots. Schenker Technologies offers numerous well-known components here. On the connection side, four USB ports, including a modern Type-C port, Gigabit LAN, WiFi 6 and an SD card reader are provided. Of course, a headset can also be connected via the 3.5 mm jack sockets, and there are also improved speakers for the sound.

All in all, the XMG CORE 15 has dimensions of 359.8 x 243 x 19.9 mm and is still positioned in the slim gaming category with a weight of less than 2 kg. The XMG CORE 17 is 395.7 x 260.7 x 30 mm and about 2.5 kg a bit larger and heavier.
