In Bavaria, groups of up to ten people can meet again in public spaces. In private rooms and gardens there are no longer any numerical restrictions.
The mask requirement still applies in shops, local and long-distance traffic. This does not apply to children under the age of six and people who are unable to wear a mask for health reasons. Since last week, employees of shops in the checkout and counter areas or at the reception have no longer had to wear a face mask if there are transparent protective walls in the corresponding area.
What changes in Bavaria this week and what restrictions still apply:
Relaxed visiting rules in hospitals, old people’s and nursing homes
From June 29th, less stringent visit regulations in old people’s and nursing homes, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and facilities for people with disabilities will apply. Institutions have to replace the previous restrictions on visits with individual protection and hygiene concepts. Among other things, compliance with minimum distances and hygiene rules as well as routes for visitors must be regulated. In concrete terms, this means that residents can receive significantly more visitors.
All children can go back to daycare and crèche
From Wednesday, July 1st, in Bavaria all children back to daycare or crèche. Emergency care for children was expanded two weeks ago. Children who will have to go to school in the next school year 2021/22 or who are about to transition from daycare to daycare have already been allowed to return to kindergartens and crèches.
In the end there were always Criticism of the ongoing ban on childcare given the positive development of infection numbers in Bavaria. The Regensburg administrative court had also recently criticized the ban on childcare and declared it to be “disproportionate”.
Tourism: restrictions for some holidaymakers in Bavaria
Hotels, holiday apartments, campsites and the associated wellness areas are open again. Accommodation companies in Bavaria however, not all guests are allowed. Visitors who come from a district or an independent city in another federal state or who live in a region in which the new corona infections were more than 50 per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days must not be accommodated in Bavaria. This does not apply to people who have a negative corona test and who have a medical certificate.
Private celebrations allowed – major events still prohibited
Celebrations like weddings, funeralsBirthdays Graduation ceremonies and club meetings have been allowed since last week with up to 50 guests inside and up to 100 guests outside. However, the prerequisite for this is that the group of participants is manageable and not just any audience, according to the ministry. This rule is intended to prevent the possible spread of the virus from being traced in the event of an infection.
Public festivities or events for a general and larger audience remain prohibited. Last week, the federal government extended the ban on major events from August 31 to the end of October.
