Even in the United States, fuel is getting expensive

4.5 dollars per gallon, or about one euro per litre, the Americans had never seen that. And when you’re driving around in a big V8-powered pickup, it hurts.

It’s not just here that the price of fuel has been rising for a few months. Historically, the United States is one of those countries in the world where refueling your car costs much less than in most European countries. And that’s also why Americans continue to drive cars that are often equipped with big engines.

But for the past few days, the price of fuel has reached record highs on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. So much so that the price per gallon (the equivalent of 3.78 liters) now exceeds 4.5 dollars in some parts of the country. That’s about one euro per liter of unleaded!

Soon all Americans in electric cars?

Certainly, the price remains affordable compared to our prices in France or in our neighboring countries. But knowing that Americans very often drive with vehicles that are much less fuel efficient than ours, some motorists are beginning to panic at having to pay so much for their fill of gas. And this upward trend could last a few more weeks according to specialists.
