Great news for Forum for Democracy supporters. The top 10 of the party’s electoral list was presented tonight – of course by the duo Thierry Baudet and Theo Hiddema – and yes, that top 10 looks very good.
With every party it is a ‘thing’ who gets into the top ten, but only at Forum for Democracy have they really managed to make a nice show of the presentation – yes, even in these times when it is almost impossible to do anything. of an event. Ahoy was almost empty, but Baudet and Hiddema did not care. The party had packed everything nicely with tractors, buses, guests, the press, and of course with the candidates themselves. The camera work was again extremely professional, as was the presentation. The result: a show that only FVD can give.
But it wasn’t all “looks.” It was also a great evening in terms of content. Because the list of FVD looks extraordinarily good – the top 10 at least, because we can’t say much about the rest at the time this article appeared online.
Hans Smolders is ranked ten. The Tilburg politician who was Pim Fortuyn’s driver when he was shot by Volkert van der Graaf. It was thanks to Smolders that Van der Graaf could be arrested so quickly.
Jan Cees Vogelaar is on nine. This dairy farmer wants – no one will be surprised – to make a case for our farmers. “For example, the Netherlands must implement European rules, but the nitrogen policy is an assassin for the livestock sector. EU Commissioner Frans Timmermans would like to see a transition of agriculture, but in fact this more boils down to an execution. That must be different, ”says Vogelaar. “That fishermen can keep fishing and farmers can keep farming.”
And then we arrive at number eight: Wybren van Haga… who immediately announced that he is now part of the FVD faction in the Lower House. In fact, the party now has not two but three seats. Very good, partly because Van Haga not only brings experience with him, but also because nowadays he has created quite a number of followers for himself. So that will benefit FVD.
Frederik (Freek) Jansen is one place above Van Haga. Jansen is (or was) chairman of JFVD, the youth organization of FVD for four years. Everyone knows that FVD is the largest member party in the country, but what many people don’t know is that JFVD is also the largest political young peopleorganization of the Netherlands. This is partly thanks to Jansen, who has led the club in a very effective way.
The current treasurer of the party, Olaf Ephraim, comes in sixth. Ephraim is a business economist. He is also the man who ensured that FVD got things back in order financially after the mismanagement of his predecessor Henk Otten. So he definitely deserves that sixth place – and as a Member of Parliament he can make a case for SMEs.
During the livestream there were reactions from FVD’ers who called for one young lady: Eva Vlaardingerbroek. Well, good news for her fans: Eva is in fifth place. No small feat for such a young woman, but her position is more than deserved. We’ve all seen how she has created a name for herself, and how popular and respected she is – especially online, but also offline.
The number four was already known: Joost Eerdmans. A fantastic choice. This Rotterdam politician is sorely missed in The Hague. For goodness sake, let’s hope this problem gets fixed in the end.
Then we arrive at the number three…. and what a number three: Nicki Pouw-Verweij. This physician-researcher at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam and a senator is widely respected. And because of her background, she will of course play an important role in the debate about corona.
And then the numbers two and one. Well, no surprises here: Theo Hiddema and Thierry Baudet. The unbeatable duo continues. Fortunately.
Of course there will be people who wonder how important the composition of these top ten is. Well, I can be very clear about that: very important. I am convinced that FVD will get this number of seats in March anyway. So we will see the people presented today – at least in my opinion – in the House of Representatives next year.
