Education is close to our hearts
Reformation is freedom – and education. Regional Bishop July made this clear on Reformation Day at an online event in the Crailsheim deanery. You can find the lecture as a video here.

“The importance of education” can hardly be overestimated for Protestant theology and the Church, “says Regional Bishop Dr. hc Frank Otfried July in his lecture. The representatives of the Reformation were all highly educated, and their program was clear: “Read the Bible!”
July emphasized that the regional church is still intensively involved in education today. In the school area, this is done, for example, through religious instruction, but also through 254 Protestant schools that maintain the Protestant school work. In the church sector, for example, children’s services and confirmation classes supplemented the spectrum.
The regional bishop makes it clear that education is culture-creating and shaping. It gives strength for overcoming crises, integration of refugees, the dialogue of religions, resistance against racism and anti-Semitism. “I would therefore like to combine today’s Reformation Day 2020 with the message: Education is a matter close to our hearts.”
