Eurostat: In January-May, Latvia saw an average rapid increase in exports among EU countries

In the first five months of this year, compared to the corresponding period last year, Latvia had an average rapid increase in exports between the European Union (EU) countries, according to Eurostat data published on Friday, July 16, by the European Union (EU) statistical office Eurostat.

In January-May of this year, in comparison with the first five months of 2020, the volume of exports in Latvia, as well as in Belgium and Slovenia, has increased by 18%.

The largest increases in exports during this period were recorded in Slovakia, where they increased by 31%, Estonia (+ 27%), the Czech Republic, Croatia, Portugal and Romania (all countries + 25%), as well as Greece, Italy and Poland (all countries + 24%). ).

An increase of 17% was registered in Lithuania.

Exports have increased in all EU countries except Ireland (-3%) and Cyprus (-21%).

The volume of imports in January-May has increased compared to the corresponding period of 2020 in all EU Member States, but the largest increase was in Estonia (+ 28%) and Romania (+ 25%). The volume of imports in Latvia has increased by 20%, but in Lithuania – by 22%.
