Eurosport broadcasts ‘Back on Track’, the UCI Champions League documentary series

In the countdown to the celebrations of the second season of the UCI Track Champions League, it’s back to the screens. Back on Track, the documentary series that takes you to the other side of cyclists in the 2021 edition. The five-episode series will be broadcast on Eurosport every week, starting Sunday, October 16, following the conclusion of the UCI Tissot World Championship. Track 2022.

Back on Track reveals the action, rivalries and drama of the inaugural season of this groundbreaking cycling championship. By following the best track cyclists in the world, it allows spectators to meet cyclists, experiencing their ups and downs as they compete at the highest levels of international competition.

The series will be part of Eurosport’s full track cycling program this fall, which also includes daily coverage of the Tissot UCI Track World Championships and every round of the 2022 UCI Track Champions League.

EPISODE 1

The first episode of the season begins in Mallorca, Spain as the runners prepare for the opening round of the UCI Track Champions League. Capture the feeling of anticipation as athletes head into a new competition format.

As the story of the first round unfolds on the track, viewers are introduced to key players in the series, starting with Dutchman Harry Lavreysennine times UCI world champion and double Olympic gold medalist, participant in the Sprint category.

The episode delves into Lavreysen’s past, examining the origins of the Dutchman’s career in track cycling, a sport he embarked on for the first time after giving up BMX due to a dislocated shoulder more than 50 times.

EPISODE 2

The second episode begins with a closer look at the male endurance category. Among the contenders for the title there is Corbin Forte (New Zealand), who sits in the interview chair for the first time.

Spectators are also transported to Glasgow to meet the double Olympic gold medalist. Katie Archibald and find out what drives her to be successful. In Mallorca, their fierce battle continued with the Dutch veteran Kirsten Wildwith both riders looking for a good performance in a dramatic knockout race after disappointing results in Scratch.

In the Sprint, friends and teammates Emma Hinze and Lea Sophie Friedrich they face the difficulties of competing against each other at the highest level, each feeling the pressure. Meanwhile, the female sprint runner Matilde Gros talks about his disappointing Olympic campaign and his aspirations for the championship.

As the episode draws to a close, we travel to Lithuania for the second round of the championship and meet the local sporting legend Simona Krupeckaitë, a cyclist about to retire hoping for a last great result in front of the home crowd.

EPISODE 3

With the biggest win of his career at hand, Hoover talks about the cycling idols that inspired him.

The fourth episode kicks off at Lee Valley Velodrome, London, the venue for track cycling at the 2012 Olympics. The venue will host two consecutive rounds of the championship, for an exciting finale. For many drivers it will be the last race of their career. Ed Clancy, A three-time Olympic gold medalist in team pursuit traces fond memories of velodrome racing as he takes to the track for the last time.

UCI veterans and multiple world champions Annette Edmondson and Kirsten Wild also retire, both with the aim of ousting Women’s Endurance League leader Katie Archibald at their local headquarters.

EPISODE 5

In the last episode of the series, Mora and O’Brien They are not the only cyclists who disagree. The compatriots and neighboring teammates Emma Hinze and Lea Sophie Friedrich reveal how their friendship is soon forgotten on the track when just two points separate them in the standings. Episode five also focuses on the retirement of several famous cyclists, as they compete in the last race of their career. Annette Edmondson, Kirsten Wild and Ed Clancy talk to the camera and reflect on their time in track cycling.
