Last week the European Pony Championships in eventing, show jumping and dressage took place in Strzegom in Poland. For this edition, our Blueberries return to the country with three medals, silver in teams for our jumping riders, bronze in team for our completists and gold in individual for Maé Rinaldi and Boston du Verdon, undefeated since the same deadline last year. Throwback to this week of championships.

This Friday, August 5, it was our show jumping riders who opened the ball for medals. Following the first round on Thursday, our team made up of Nohlan Vallat/Daenerys d’Hurl’vent, Emma Gay Le Breton/Bad Boy du Beau Mont, Lou Ann Beraud/Ungaro of Qofanny and Jack Conlon-Gâteau/Samba van de Groenheuvel draws a clean sheet, tied with Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and Italy. Friday, Emma Gay Lebreton and Nohlan Vallat offer double clear to France. Penalized with a fault on the river in round one, Lou-Ann Beraud concluded the second round, with a clear round, raising the final score of the French team to four points, allowing our four musketeers to climb the second step of the podium.

« We are very happy with this medal, it’s great. It’s a good result knowing that only one rider, Nohlan Vallat, has already taken part in the European Championships. This medal is the result of teamwork carried out over several months with the federal staff and private coaches. It also shows that the French championship, organized at the Federal Equestrian Park in Lamotte-Beuvron, prepares couples in good conditions with a view to achieving performances like this. explained Olivier Bost, coach, after this medal.

Four couples qualified for the individual final on Sunday: Nohlan Vallat/Daenerys d’Hurl’vent, Emma Gay Le Breton/Bad Boy du Beau Mont, both with zero faults on the counter Lou Ann Beraud/Ungaro of Qofanny with four points and Arwen Le Saux/All Best du Rond Pré with eight points. Signing one of the four clear rounds in this final, Lou Ann Beraud keeps his score at four points, allowing him to obtain fourth place in these European championships.

Maé and monstrous Boston

Once again, Maé Rinaldi and her incredible Boston du Verdon demonstrated on this world championship ground. And the stakes were high since France was the title holder individually but also as a team. Well launched in dressage, with a first place in the provisional classification, the team, made up of Maé Rinaldi/Boston du Verdon, Zoé Ballot/Voltair de Lalande, Ambroise Maindru/Versailles des Morins and Océane Villeton/Babylon Night Graves is paying the price. of a fairly technical cross and fell to third place provisionally. Place that our riders will keep after the horse race, allowing the team to win bronze. For her part, Maé Rinaldi, reigning European champion, was keen to keep her medal, even more so after a year when her duo with Boston won everything in her path! Impressive on cross country and horse racing, they manage to keep their score of 25.6 points obtained after dressage, offering themselves a new European title. That concludes his pony years in the most beautiful way!

« I don’t realize yet, I don’t know how to describe this victory! Boston was very available on the three tests. I trained a little less well than usual but my pony pleased the judges. The cross was technical, but Boston rode well, with good jumps and a good stopwatch. For show jumping, he was still in great shape and jumped well. said the girl after the victory. For his part, coach Gilles Viricel said he was very happy with these two medals: ” We were very well placed after the dressage and we find ourselves in provisional bronze after the cross-country. During the show jumping, it was complicated because we lost this medal for a while, but we finally got it at the end of the race, which is satisfying to us. We had a leader, Maé, who gave us a good boost, especially for the cross country, where we were a little disappointed after Zoé’s refusal. We instructed Maé to play for the team but also for her in order to retain her title, which she did in a superb way. »

In dressage, Fleur Weijkamp in the final

In the team competition (Fleur Weijkamp & Orchard NL, Stella Briand & Swyn Barrade, Lou Eden Commenge & Oscar, Thanaïs Capelle Morosi & Bandro Hit Linaro), France offered great performances for a nice 6e spot on 16! In Individual, only the couple formed by Fleur Weijkamp & Orchard NL qualified for the final in music. The recovery of this couple in bronze at the last French championships allowed them to obtain a score of 72.170% and a sixteenth place.
