European-Israeli Officials Meeting Becomes Arguing and Swearing

TEL AVIV – Two weeks ago, a delegation of European diplomats and ambassadors arrived in Israel to discuss the situation in the West Bank. However, the atmosphere of the meeting was reportedly a bit far from diplomatic.

“Recent meetings between Israeli Foreign Ministry officials and a European diplomatic delegation turned into an argument when the participants tried to discuss the situation in the West Bank and the treatment of Palestinians,” said three European and Israeli diplomats quoted by Walla News and reported by Sputnik on Friday (7/1/2022).

According to the report, a British-led European delegation arrived in Jerusalem to protest against the treatment of Palestinians in the West Bank.

They especially voiced concern about violence by Jewish settlers against Palestinians.

In addition, officials are said to have highlighted their objections to the settlement development plan and other issues.

Highlights were raised on Israeli developments in the controversial E1 area between Jerusalem and the Ma’ale Adumim settlement, as well as development plans in East Jerusalem’s Givat Hamatos neighborhood.
