There was great trepidation in the air to know the response of the Government at the request of FIGC to open it Olympic Stadium of Roma to a part of fans for the competitions of EURO 2020 to be held in June. In particular, it would be three group games plus a quarter-final.
As reported by the Corriere della Sera, this decision has finally come: there is the Government’s OK to 25% of the public inside the stadium. This was announced by the Undersecretary for Sport Valentina Vezzali.
The Vezzali has in fact sent a letter to the president of the Gabriele Gravina Football Federation with the commitment of Government to ensure the participation of “a share of spectators equal to at least 25% of the capacity” of the Olympic Stadium on the occasion of the opening match and other scheduled matches a Roma. The final decision must be communicated to the UEFA, and therefore the Government has decided to speed up the work schedule.
Great satisfaction emerges from the words of the president Federal Gabriele Gravina, who will surely be breathing a strong sigh of relief:
“Italy e Roma There are! The ok by the Government in the presence of the public in the competitions of Roma per Euro 2020 it represents splendid news that we will immediately pass on to UEFA. The message that the Executive is sending to the country is one of great confidence and extraordinary vision. Italy proves to have courage, that Italy that fights against the pandemic and at the same time works to restart safely according to a clear and defined program and calendar ”.
He therefore saves the opening match of EURO 2020, Turkey-Italy, which will be played right all‘Olimpico. Unlike what other countries have decided (Bilbao the last to back out) on this occasion we should applaud the institutions for their commitment to solving a big problem for the whole Italian sports world.
