Italy national team midfielder Marco Verratti sure the English national team will not benefit the referee Bjorn Kuipers on final Euro 2020 at Wembley Stadium, London, Monday (12/7) early morning WIB.
Italian media have claimed that there is a UEFA conspiracy to try to win England at Euro 2020. The claim comes after England’s controversial penalty when they beat Denmark in the semifinals.
Verratti has bad memories with Kuipers in the Champions League semifinals last season. However, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder will do a great job in leading Italy vs England in the Euro 2020 final.
“Playing at Wembley will encourage everyone, because it’s a historic match for both players. Referee [Kuipers] will put in a great performance, I’m sure, I don’t think he can be managed, don’t be afraid of that,” Verratti said The Gazzetta Dello Sport.
“The penalty awarded for England against Denmark? It was too good. I don’t want to talk about it, let’s think about our own game. In recent years our team lacked credibility and now it’s back to the Italy it should be,” said Verratti
Verratti had accused Kuipers of insulting him with harsh words when PSG lost to Manchester City in the Champions League semifinals last season.
Regarding the match against England, Verratti believes that Italy will face a tough test to win Euro 2020. The former Pescara player considers the English national team a solid team in defense.
“England have players with good technique and physicality, they only conceded one goal throughout the tournament. Their team is solid and balanced, I think they deserve to be in the final. It’s a dream to win at Wembley,” said Verratti.
