In a “message” that had more to do with the unusual outcome of a summit between leaders of Serbia and Kosovo with the President of the United States in Washington than with the ongoing negotiations in Brussels to normalize relations between those two countries, a spokesman for the European Union’s External Action Service reminded this Monday that all candidates for membership of the bloc must respect the acquis communautaire and comply with international law.
