Ethiopia is the superfood of the future

The little-known plant Enset or Ethiopian pseudobanana may become one of the foods of the future, the BBC reported. The plant is very suitable for the upcoming climate change. The fruit is almost unknown outside Ethiopia.

The new superfood can feed more than 100 million people in Africa alone. Scientists believe that pseudo-bananas can grow in a climate that is different from Africa.

In Ethiopia alone, which already has a population of 100 million, the distant relative of bananas feeds more than 20 million. Enset would thrive in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, where they had never heard of it.

According to Dr. James Borrell of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Ethiopian bananas are unique because they can be planted at any time and bear fruit all the time.
