Despite the start of construction of the future Paris-Saclay hospital, the Committee for the Defense of North Essonne Hospitals do not give up, on the contrary. Continuing to fight to avoid the disappearance of those of Longjumeau, Juvisy and Orsay, the Committee submitted a petition to the prefect of Essonne last Saturday.
” Make noise “
The last time we met Gilles Rémignard, member of the Committee, the investigating commissioner had just given the green light to the construction of the large hospital which is due to open in June 2024.
The latter then recalled the recommendations and reservations made, pointing in particular to the problems of accessibility and estimating that the hospital, which will open on the ZAC of Corbeville in Orsay, will be isolated (unlike already existing hospitals).
The project being launched, the Committee for the defense of hospitals in North Essonne thus decided to “make noise” on Saturday in front of the prefecture of Essonne. “We want to show that there are people behind us and remind us that the investigation concluded that the hospital was opened in a degraded scenario,” explains Gilles Rémignard.
A mobilization that works
If the Committee continues the fight, it is because it has obtained several victories since 2015, starting by avoiding the razing of the Juvisy hospital. Instead, a private health facility will be created there.
“We also managed to maintain emergencies there. It is always better than the real estate operations envisaged to finance the next hospital. But we would have preferred it to be rehabilitated, ”concedes Gilles Rémignard.
Another battle won, the maintenance of the hospitals of Longjumeau and Paris-Saclay in the public domain. However, the fight continues for the Committee which wants to keep health centers for the inhabitants of the surroundings.
The Committee does not believe in proximity offers
Cedric Lussiez, the director of Nord-Essonne Hospital Group (GHNE), affirmed that local offers would be maintained in Juvisy and Longjumeau.
A fate that Gilles Rémignard refuses: “The expression is misleading. In reality, there won’t be much left in it. No more operating theaters, surgery, maternity and emergency rooms. “
The North Essonne Hospital Defense Committee also wishes to come back, with the Regional Health Agency, on “the degraded scenario” in the event of the hospital opening on the scheduled date.
Finally, the petitioners call for the return of the departmental health meetings. As defined by the Departmental Council at the time, the purpose of this annual meeting was in particular to reflect “on the needs of Essonniens in terms of health” and “to bring democracy to life in health”.
