The name of the local car brand, Esemka, has not resonated in the Indonesian automotive industry for a long time. But at the 2023 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) press conference in Jakarta, Thursday (2/2/2023), the name Esemka appeared as one of the participating brands.
The IIMS 2023 exhibition will be held on 16-26 February. This exhibition will be attended by various car and motorcycle brands, including aftermarket spare parts and commercial vehicle component brands.
Interestingly, in the material presented by Dyandra Promosindo as the IIMS 2023 organizing committee, the name Esemka appears as one of the participating brands. This was also confirmed by IIMS Project Manager Rudi MF.
“Of the total 45 vehicles, it is true that one of them is correct, official, can we get a permit (permit) from the brand holder. So the Esemka car brand is present at the motor show. This is also an honor, a local brand will be present at IIMS. What will happen later? , and all kinds, it’s better to ask the brand (in question),” said Rudi.
Esemka will occupy Hall A. This brand shares a room with brands such as Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Morris Garage, Mobbi, Indomobil Group, DFSK, and also Pertamina.
detikOto tried to contact Public Relations of PT Solo Manufaktur Kreasi (Esemka), Sabar Budi, to confirm Esemka’s participation in IIMS 2023. However, until this news was published, there was no response.
For information, previously Esemka often updated their market and product developments through their Instagram account @esemkaindonesia. Unfortunately, that account last uploaded a post in February 2021. In fact, the phone number listed in the profile bio is no longer active.
So, the question is, where exactly did Esemka go? Is PT Solo Manufacturing Kreasi as the Esemka car manufacturer in Boyolali still operating and producing vehicles? Or have they stopped all of their business activities?
Contacted some time ago, Sabar Budi confirmed–even though it was quiet and there wasn’t much news–Esemka’s business activities were still going on until now.
“Still (running),” Budi said when contacted by detikOto. However, he could not elaborate further on the company’s business strategy in the future.
