James and Jennifer Crumbly are accused of involuntary manslaughter for ignoring signs that their son might resort to aggression on the eve of the deadly shooting.
The prosecution also said that James Crumbley bought and presented his son a pistol for Christmas on November 26, which he later used during the attack. And the teen’s mother took him to shoot with this pistol at the shooting range.
The police put them on the wanted list due to the fact that the Crumbly did not appear at the hearing to consider their charges. The shooter’s parents were found and detained on the morning of December 4 in Detroit, on the first floor of an industrial building near the place where their car was previously found.
At the trial, James and Jennifer Crumbly announced that they did not plead guilty. The court appointed them a bail – $ 500 thousand each. They are in the same prison as their son, all three are in separate cells.
