Eroski and its clients have donated 6.5 million meals in 2020 – Financial Food

Eroski and its clients have exceeded their goal of raising the equivalent of five million meals in 2020, having finally reached 6.5 million meals donated to the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (Fesbal) thanks to the different campaigns of last year and the start-up of its Solidarity Cents program since November. This amount has meant a total of 3.3 million euros, thus managing to feed 2,400 families for a year.

The proceeds from the different 2020 campaigns are available to the Food Banks in each area so that they can provide food products, in addition to other basic necessities, to families that have been left in a vulnerable situation after the health emergency.

“In addition to being supportive as an organization as set out in our principles, At Eroski we have understood that we should channel the solidarity of our clients. Their response has been overwhelming, both in the spring campaign, as in the Great Collection or the Solidarity Cents program. EroskiI also contributes an additional 7% to what is donated by our clients and delivers millions of euros in food to the Food Banks and other social entities through the Zero Waste program ”, affirms the director of Health and Sustainability of the company. Alejandro Martínez Berriochoa.

The campaigns through which Eroski has wanted to collaborate with the Food Banks have been “A Million Meals” that was launched in spring and with which it managed to raise and donate the equivalent of more than 750,000 kilograms of food and the “Great Food Collection” in November where they were also delivered to the Banks of Food 1.9 million euros.

“We thank again Eroski’s collaboration with Fesbal for this important contribution in a year that has been so difficult. Thanks to Eroski and its clients, we acquire food products that we will later distribute, through the charities with which we collaborate, to the most disadvantaged and needy groups ”, says the general director of the Spanish Federation of Food Banks, Miguel Fernández.
