On Thursday, former Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader Erna Solberg appeared at the home of a Russian in Spain: – We are shocked, says the Russian president.
– We were all shocked, we didn’t realize that this was real. She is a role model for us, says Russian President Celina Slyngstad (19).
In February, Slyngstad immediately sent an email to Erna Solberg, in which she hoped Solberg could participate in a Russian event with the Russians at Den Norske Skole in Rojales in Spain.
To Slyngstad’s surprise, Solberg agreed. On Thursday evening, Solberg appeared at the home of one of the girls.
– The whole thing was a special experience! We talked, listened to music and drank wine. The Russian drank cava, and Erna drank a glass of red wine, says Slyngstad.

Conservative Party leader Erna Solberg is in Spain to, among other things, visit the Conservative party’s local team on the Costa Blanca. When she found out that she was going to be a day longer than planned, the Russe vorspiel suddenly fit into the plans.
– When I first had to stay a day longer than planned, I agreed to the request, Solberg tells VG.
At the vorspiele they talked about life in Spain and Russian time, she says.
– We have eaten food and drunk wine. I think the Russian will go on, but I probably won’t. I’m going back to Norway tomorrow morning, says Erna Solberg to VG after the vorspiel.
– Do you miss Russian time a little after taking part in a Russian pre-season?
– My Russian time was very short, because I worked in Operation Dagsverk that year, and traveled straight to Oslo after graduation. So I’ve missed the Russian era a bit, she says.
On Wednesday, Solberg was at a street party in Orihuela. Here, 600 people turned up to hear the former prime minister make an appeal.
– Were a little nervous
– It was a great honor to meet such an important political leader. We were a little worried before Erna came, because we were a little nervous together, says the Russian president.
Slyngstad says that it is a little different to be a Norwegian Russian in Spain than to be one in Norway.
– We celebrate the same months, but here we have to adapt to Spanish culture. For example, we don’t have the option of a Russian bus, so we are walking Russians, says Slyngstad.
She goes on to say that it was nice to be able to get to know the former prime minister.
– It was very exciting to be visited by Erna. It was very nice to show her how we as Russians here in Spain celebrate the Russian era, she says.
Den Norske Skolen in Rojales offers teaching for primary and secondary school, as well as upper secondary school. Slyngstad says that the school has 200 students, and that ten of these are drunk this year.
