Ericsson cancels participation in Mobile World Congress due to corona virus

Ericsson cancels participation in Mobile World Congress due to corona virus

One of the largest exhibitors justifies the decision with safety concerns.

According to LG Electronics, Ericsson also canceled participation in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona due to safety concerns surrounding the corona virus. The trade fair for the mobile phone industry is at the end of February 2020.

Ericsson wrote in a message:

“Due to the outbreak of the novel corona virus, Ericsson has decided to withdraw from the industry event GSMA Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2020 because the health and safety of employees and customers cannot be guaranteed.”

It also says that responsibility for the health and safety of employees, customers and other interest groups is a top priority for the company.

How golem.de writes, Ericsson would be one of the largest exhibitors with thousands of visitors in its hall. The South Korean manufacturer LG Electronics had already canceled its participation this week for the same reasons.

At the beginning of the week, the organizers of MWC 2020 informed about additional preventive measures. Trade fair participants are advised not to shake hands, and disinfectants are available everywhere.
