Minister BUMN Erick Thohir reported the alleged corruption case in PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) to the Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday (11/1). Allegations of corruption related to corruption leasing aircraft.
In particular, Erick reported that the type of aircraft suspected of being corrupted was the ATR 72-600.
“Today, in particular, it is ATR 76-600, which of course we provide an investigative audit, not accusations,” Erick told reporters at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta, Tuesday (11/1).
Not only that, Erick said that this case might be developed, not only limited to one type of aircraft.
“Development of other aircraft? It is possible, right, this will really be transparent,” he said.
Erick admitted that this report was part of a clean-up action for BUMN whose purpose was to make state companies healthy. He also said that his party was also working with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
“This is a comprehensive program carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office and BUMN. It is time for BUMN to be brought to order. This is the goal to make BUMN healthy. The data involves BPKP, because the audit department,” he said.
Attorney General ST Burhanuddin said the report received was a form of the Prosecutor’s commitment to the Ministry of SOEs in the context of cleaning up state-owned companies from corruption. Not only that, he said his meeting with Erick Thohir also discussed the restructuring process for Garuda.
“Today the problem is Garuda Indonesia, the first is the restructuring of Garuda, then the second is the Garuda report for the purchase of ATR 72-600 and also this is mainly in order for us to support the Ministry of SOEs in cleaning up,” he said.
He also said his party was ready to provide support for the BUMN clean-up program.
“This is mainly because we support the Ministry of BUMN to clean up. A clean BUMN will be better and of course under the leadership of Minister Erick we support it,” he concluded.
