Erick Thohir “Haram” Pertamina to Have Shares in Pertashop

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The government is targeting to build 1,000 Pertashop in Islamic boarding schools throughout 2021. The following year, it was doubled to 2,000.

Minister of State Owned Enterprises or BUMN Erick Thohir said that all regional businessmen or pesantren managers could open opportunities to open Pertashop.

Erick even forbade Pertamina to have shares in Pertashop.

“I decided, Pertamina should not have even 1 percent of shares. Pertashop must be given to regional entrepreneurs or Islamic boarding schools,” said BUMN Minister Erick in the event of Millennial Fes x PPI Belgium virtually on Sunday (18/4/2021)

According to Erick, the construction of 1,000 Pertashops in Islamic boarding schools has the potential to create jobs in the regions. The hope: this can boost the local economy.

For this reason, the government encourages cooperation between Pertamina (Persero) and the Islamic Economic Community (MES) to facilitate the program.

As the Minister of BUMN who is also the General Chairperson of MES Erick, he sees the potential for opening up jobs in the construction of Pertashop, in addition to the opportunity to open a fuel oil business in the regions.

Hence, Pertamina will not control the Pertashop in a number of areas. Although, the mini public refueling station (SPBU) is a partnership between Pertamina and local entrepreneurs.

Some time ago, the Ministry of BUMN inaugurated a Pertashop at the Surusunda Islamic Boarding School, Karangpucung, Cilacap. At that time, Erick said that a local businessman with a new age of 34 had the courage to open a BBM business and hoped that Pertashop would be his source of livelihood.
