Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called Israel a “brutal terrorist” state, AFP reported.

He delivered a speech tonight in Ankara on the violence of the Temple Hill in Jerusalem, where more than 200 people were injured.

“Israel, a brutal terrorist state, is attacking in a fierce and unethical way the Muslims in Jerusalem who are only defending their homes, their millennial country and their sacred values,” Erdogan said.

More than 200 people were injured in clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police yesterday in East Jerusalem near the Al Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site for followers of Islam, BTA said.

This comes amid growing anger over the possible expulsion of Palestinians from their homes in an area where they want to accommodate Jewish settlers.

Palestinian youths threw stones, bombs and other objects, and Israeli police responded with rubber bullets and stun grenades. According to the latest figures, at least 205 Palestinians and 17 Israeli police have been injured.
