Erding – 360 apprenticeships are waiting for applicants – Erding

Two weeks before the start of the training year, the market is still very much in motion. After a school year and final exams under special conditions, the young people start their careers under just as special conditions. Finding the right job has not become easier, among other things because internships have been canceled in many cases due to the corona pandemic. There are currently 360 vacant apprenticeships registered with the Employment Agency, but there are only 125 young people who are looking for an apprenticeship through the agency. You can choose.

The situation is difficult for companies, and it has not been for a year or two. The desire to continue going to school after graduation may have even increased due to Corona, says Christine Schöps from the Employment Agency in Freising, which is also responsible for the Erding district. The training market is an “applicant market”, she says: the applicants have the choice. For example at the company Scharf Omnibus und Reisebüro OHG in Tittenkofen. As Andreas Scharf says, he would have liked to have trained several young people as travel agents, office clerks, mechanics and bus drivers. They would have taken three or four, they got one who wants to become a mechanic. Scharf, who is also deputy chairman of the IHK regional committee Erding-Freising, sees a shortage of skilled workers looming. He said his company would like to train for its own needs so that the future employees could meet the special needs, but it does not work. “We urgently need immigrants,” says Scharf. “Also from abroad.”

The entrepreneur regrets, as he says, that the young people preferred to go to school rather than start their careers. It is also not the first time that his company has had problems getting enough applications. “But this year it’s already extreme.” Two applications came in, one has changed his mind, one is being trained.

Every second new apprenticeship position in the district was still vacant at the end of July. 720 have been reported, 360 are still open. Otto Heinz, the chairman of the IHK regional committee Erding-Freising, who is also vice-chairman of the IHK for Munich and Upper Bavaria is. In a press release, he announced that he was still expecting catch-up effects until the beginning of September. The corona restrictions would have delayed many processes. Trial internships, training fairs and personal application interviews could not take place at all or only to a very limited extent. That is why unserved and indecisive school leavers still have every chance of finding a suitable job. This is also emphasized by Christine Schöps, who also encourages young people to continue trying to find a training position and also to make use of the services of the Employment Agency.

The top ten vacant apprenticeships include retail salespeople, warehouse logistics specialists, bank clerks, salespeople and dental and medical assistants. You can also find training as a commercial administrator, bricklayer, office management businessman and plant mechanic.

Some of the training contracts will probably only be concluded in this and the coming weeks, said Schöps. There is still a lot of movement. Entry into an apprenticeship is still possible in some cases until the end of the year. As Schöps says, the willingness of companies in the district to provide training has even increased: from 624 last year to 720 this year. The company Huber Technik GmbH & Co. KG in Erding is one of the coveted training companies in the district. Three apprentices will start in September, they will become construction mechanics. But even ten applied, says Veronika Kamm, who is responsible for training in the company and who is also a member of the IHK regional committee Erding-Freising. “We are very happy,” she says. She believes that one reason for the good response from the applicant market is the company’s easy accessibility. “We are centrally located and have the bus in front of the door.” Young people would be able to use the machines right away. That would also make the training attractive.
