Erasmus Bridge turns red and blue for aid workers during riots | Inland

“As a thank you and appreciation for our (emergency) services that had to deal with (the consequences) of extreme violence last Friday, I have decided to color the #Erasmusbrug and #Hofpleinfontein red/blue tonight,” said Karremans. “Many thanks, heroes! R’dam is right behind you.”

At a demonstration against announced corona measures, disturbances broke out in Rotterdam on Friday evening. Heavy fireworks and rocks were thrown at emergency workers. A fire brigade that turned out to extinguish a burning police car was attacked and had to flee. Police fired shots at some rioters as the demonstration spiraled out of control. Four people may have been hit by bullets, the National Criminal Investigation Department is investigating whether it concerns police bullets. Several people were injured, including officers.
