American actress Mary Mara, 61, known for her roles on television series such as ‘Law & Order’, ‘ER’, and ‘Criminal Minds’, passed away on Sunday. Her manager confirmed that.
“Mary’s body was found in the Saint Lawrence River she loves so much,” her manager said. “She drowned while swimming.” Police say there are no signs of malicious intent. An autopsy is still being performed on the body to determine an official cause of death. Mara reportedly stayed at her sister’s summer home in Cape Vincent, New York.
Mara leaves behind an ex-husband and stepdaughter. “Mary was one of the best actresses I’ve ever met,” her manager said. “I remember seeing her on stage in the play ‘Mad Forest’ in 1992. She was exciting, funny and a real individual. Everyone loved her. She will be missed.”
Mara has starred in over twenty films, but is best known for her roles in TV dramas. Her appearances include ‘Bridges’, ‘ER’, ‘Criminal Minds’, ‘The West Wing’, ‘Shameless’, ‘Lost’, ‘Star Trek: Enterprise’, ‘Ray Donovan’ and ‘NYPD Blue’.
