(CercleFinance.com) – Equinor announces that it has been selected to supply New York State with offshore wind power under one of the largest renewable energy markets in the United States to date.
Equinor and its strategic partner bp will provide 1260 megawatt (MW) of offshore wind power generation capacity from the Empire Wind 2 offshore wind farm, and an additional 1230 MW from Beacon Wind 1 – in addition to the commitment existing for the supply of 816 MW to New York from Empire Wind 1 – a total of 3.3 gigawatts (GW) of state power.
‘These projects will provide local renewable electricity to New York and will play a major role in the state’s ambitions to become a global center for offshore wind,’ said Anders Opedal, CEO of Equinor.
