Epic Games strengthens with a new Polish studio

Epic Games and Poland are often linked, and now the Tim Sweeneys have set up a new studio in the country north of us.

A On Twitter we can see the announcement that a Polish studio was founded by Epic Games. This team is run by a band transferred from a small indie team, Plastic. Plastico is known for a number of games released on PlayStation consoles. Examples include Linger in Shadows, Datura, and Bound. According to the press release, the new studio will focus on original, stand-alone experiences to push the boundaries of graphics and game development. Of these, two things are worth thinking about: on the one hand, Unreal Engine 5 will be used frequently, and on the other hand, MetaHuman Creator will turn into the hands of Poles.

“Our team is incredibly proud to be at the forefront of Epic Games’ growth in Poland. Poland is a growing center for the best engineering talent we need to create amazing new gaming experiences for players worldwide, ”wrote Michal Staniszewski, Studio Director at Epic Games, in a press release. “The Plastic team has been developing Demoscene’s most ambitious and forward-looking projects for more than twenty years. A team of incredible talent who have created genre-defining experiences. They are on the verge of technological advancement and are pushing the boundaries of hardware in a beautifully artistic way. We couldn’t be more excited to be on our team and support their growth at Epic, ”added Hector Sanchez, head of Epic Games Publishing.

This is not the first time Epic Games has set up a studio in Europe. Earlier, Tim Sweeney’s company reported that he had set up a studio in Germany (and within that in Cologne) to house former Factor 5 developers. (And this name is really familiar to veterans: Turrican, The Adventures of Quik & Silva [ezt New Bits on the RAM álnéven], Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Lair… and more.)

But People Can Fly, another Polish company, was previously part of Epic Games (they ran under the name Epic Games Poland from 2013 to 2015, from they turned away from the company).
