Entire region: From December 13: New timetable for buses and trains in the Freiburg Regional Transport Association – transport companies in the RVF will continue to offer extensive timetables as usual in 2021 despite the corona pandemic

The timetable for the year 2021 in the Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg (RVF) will come into force on December 13th. Even in 2021, the transport companies in the RVF will continue to offer the usual extensive timetable offer despite the corona pandemic. To ensure that the traffic turnaround does not stall, further improvements and expansions ensure a strong public transport system.

Breisgau-S-Bahn 2020:

Elztalbahn:
A rail replacement service (SEV) with buses is expected until mid-June. Between Freiburg and Denzlingen, passengers can use the local trains of the DB Regio and the hourly S-Bahn S2 of the SWEG. From February 14, 2021, the S2 trains will run between Freiburg and Waldkirch. The SEV will be adjusted accordingly. After the then modernized Elz Valley Railway is fully operational in June 2021, the half-hourly service of the S2, which previously only existed between Freiburg and Waldkirch, will be extended to Bleibach.

S1 Breisgau-East-West:
After the initial difficulties along the east-west connection S1, the timetable concept was revised and now promises more stability. There is also a half-hourly service between Kaiserstuhl and Freiburg Hbf and between Freiburg Hbf and the Black Forest. The trains run every hour between Kaiserstuhl and the Black Forest via Freiburg. From Monday to Friday the trains from the Kaiserstuhl to Kirchzarten, which otherwise end in Freiburg Hbf, will be extended. The previously suspended principle of merging or dividing trains coming from two directions in Gottenheim or Titisee will be reintroduced in order to ensure that passengers to and from Endingen as well as Neustadt and Seebrugg can travel with as few transfers as possible.

No changes in the regional bus network – additions to the Kaiserstuhl:
In regional bus traffic, the network remains largely unchanged, but timetable times can change. Wherever possible, bus routes are adapted to the respective train connections.
An improvement in the northern Kaiserstuhl is due to the fact that the 103 bus from Endingen connects Riegel-Malterdingen to the Rhine Valley Railway. In addition, there is now an hourly service on line 106 between Endingen and Kenzingen.

City of Freiburg – expansion of VAG line 4:
With the timetable change on December 13, 2020, the extension of the Stadtbahn Messe will also go into operation. The tram line 4, which previously ended at the Technical Faculty, will in future connect to the new SC stadium and end opposite the Sick Arena at the Freiburg Exhibition Center. The turning loop created there provides a connection point between the light rail and city and regional buses and serves as a transfer option for commuters to the industrial area north. There, city bus routes 22, 24 and 25 will be diverted to Robert-Bunsen-Straße until the end of November 2021 due to road construction work. The “Max Planck Institute” stop will continue to be served by line 23 and the regional bus routes. The “badenova” stop must be omitted without replacement during the construction period.

The Tuniberg community of Opfingen has a better connection on Sundays and public holidays. The buses that were previously turning in St. Nikolaus will be extended to Opfingen Gewerbestrasse.

Telephone timetable information: New number
The previous telephone timetable information on 01805 77 99 66 will be discontinued at the end of the year. As early as December 1, 2020, RVF customers will have access to the new regional RVF timetable information on 0761/207 28 28 at the German landline tariff.

Timetables 2020:
From now on, passengers can obtain newly printed timetables from the RVF transport companies and the SBG and VAG customer centers. The RVF and its transport companies issue numerous timetable cards as well as regional timetables for the Black Forest, the Münstertal, the Kaiserstuhl, the cities of Müllheim and Neuchâtel and the Rhine plain north and south of Freiburg.

Information on the timetable is also available on the Internet as current online timetable information at www.rvf.de. All new timetables will soon be available for download there. Mobile passengers can call up their connections via the RVF app FahrPlan +.

Public transport is safe – you must wear a mask:
All transport companies have reacted to the extraordinary pandemic situation and are taking additional protective measures such as increased ventilation and consistent cleaning and disinfection of the vehicles to ensure that passengers can continue to feel safe in public transport. For their own protection and that of the other passengers, all users of public transport are still obliged to wear a face-to-face mask in the vehicles and at stops.
