Latvian Basketball Star Enija Kīvīte: Rising Talent Poised for greatness

Early Career & Club Success with Liepāja
Kīvīte honed her skills at the Jelgava Children and Youth Sports School before spending four seasons with Liepāja Women’s Basketball Club.During her time with Liepāja, she played 79 games in the Women’s Baltic Basketball League (WBBL) under the guidance of coaches Rudolfs Rozītis and Ģirts Spīte.
Last year, Kīvīte averaged 9.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 26:47 minutes per game in the WBBL, also contributing 2.9 assists and 2.2 steals. she has consistently performed well in high-pressure situations, featuring in three WBBL elimination battles – facing RSU in 2022 and Klaipeda’s “Neptune” in both 2024 and 2025. This year,she averaged 10.5 points in 27 minutes during the quarterfinals against Neptune.
Liepāja has enjoyed consistent success in the Latvian Championship, securing bronze medals in 2022, 2023, and 2024. This spring, the team broke thru, winning a silver medal after a four-year hiatus – a testament to the team’s growth and Kīvīte’s contribution.

Kīvīte’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed by national team selectors. She received her first invitation to a state unit camp in late May, alongside established players Madara Schmit and Tina Graud. She further gained valuable experience participating in trips to the czech Republic with Josephine onions and a tour of china with the Latvian U23 team in June.
her most meaningful achievement to date is a silver medal at the 2023 European U20 Championship in
