England. An explosion sets off a giant fire in an industrial area

A strong explosion in an industrial area in the south-east of england shook homes early Friday, September 4 in the morning and caused an impressive fire, still underway several hours later, firefighters said.

At 11:30 am (local), Kent firefighters explained on Twitter continue to try to control the large fire of an industrial unit occurred at Hoo, near Rochester, Kent.

“The sky was orange”

People living or working near the incident were advised to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution, detailed the firefighters in a statement, specifying having evacuated about 200 inhabitants as a precaution.

Joe Discipline, a resident of the neighborhood, told British news agency PA that he was woken up at 4.30 a.m. (3.30 GMT) by an explosion that left rocked the house and windows.
