Enforcers have withdrawn their confidence in the Board of Supervision and Enforcement. The unrest comes at an inopportune time as enforcers are tasked with ensuring that people comply with corona measures.

Enforcer Dennis van Laarhoven says against AT5 that there is ‘enough going on internally’. “The management has had several opportunities, but each time does not keep to agreements.” Van Laarhoven, who is also chairman of the temporary Subcommittee within the Central Works Council of the municipality, says that it was already decided in July that consultations with director Esmeralda Wallast Groenewoud have been suspended.
According to Van Laarhoven, the Subcommittee does not feel heard and advice would be ignored. He is also concerned about the corona measures for enforcers. Enforcers previously advocated wearing mouth masks both indoors and outdoors. ‘Very selective policy is currently being pursued. And that while we lost a colleague to corona. ‘

A spokesperson for the municipality says that they do not recognize themselves in the picture sketched by the department. ‘We follow all advice from the GGD that has been translated into clear internal regulations.’
