End of the free transfer of toilets by bus in Madrid

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid today ended the service of the free bus lines that were still in operation for the transfer of health professionals between the hotels where they stay and the hospitals where they are carrying out their work against the coronavirus (Covid-19). The last service left hospitals today at 3.30 p.m.

Since the first free shuttles were launched on March 26, these lines have transferred more than 16,700 health professionals. Of these, more than 6,500 have used the routes operated by buses of the Madrid EMT and more than 10,100 those of the intercity buses of the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium concessionaire companies. In total, 13 free lines have become operational.

Of all of them, The one that has performed the most services has been the one that linked with the temporary hospital of Ifema, with more than 4,750 transfers, followed by the one that connected with the La Paz and Ramón y Cajal hospitals, with more than 2,600 users.

Likewise, the two lines that have transferred toilets from the B&B Hotel in Getafe to the 12 de Octubre Hospital and from the TH Boadilla Hotel to the Puerta de Hierro Hospital have exceeded 1,500 people.

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Infrastructure and President of the Consortium, Ángel Garrido, thanked the collaboration of intercity bus companies and the EMT of Madrid for making this service possible “which has been essential, especially in the most difficult times of this health crisis ”. “Above all, I want to thank the drivers of these shuttles who have done an exceptional job, “he stressed.

EXCLUSIVE LINES FOR THE WAVE OF CONTACTS

The first three of these bus lines were launched on March 26, between the Getafe B&B hotel and the 12 de Octubre, Severo Ochoa de Leganés and Getafe Hospital hospitals.

Subsequently, three other lines came into operation that linked the B&B Madrid Aeropuerto T1T2T3 Hotel and the Crowne Plaza Madrid Airport Hotel with the medicalized hotel Marriott Auditorium and the Henares hospital; with the University Hospital of Torrejón and the Prince of Asturias; and with the University Clinic of Navarra.

Too Three other lines were created between the Hotel B&B Madrid Aeropuerto T4 with the Hospital Infanta Sofía; with the IBIS Alcobendas Hotel, the La Paz Hospital and the Ramón y Cajal; and with the IBIS Alcobendas Hotel and the temporary hospital of Ifema.

Two other lines connected the Hotel Ciudad de Móstoles with the Rey Juan Carlos Hospital and the Fundación de Alcorcón Hospital; and the TH Boadilla Hotel with the Puerta de Hierro Hospital.

The last two lines to come into operation were those linking the Chekin Parla Hotel with the Fundación de Alcorcón Hospital and the Rey Juan Carlos Hospital; and with the Severo Ochoa Hospital.

All these services are part of the initiatives that the Transport Ministry has launched, within the scope of its powers, within the extraordinary measures promoted by the regional government as a result of the situation and evolution of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
