CORONAVIRUS – Slowly, but surely. After the indoor restaurants for Valentine’s Day then theaters this March 5, in April it will be the turn of theaters and concert halls to reopen in New York, more than a year after their closure due to pandemic.

Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York State currently accused of sexual harassment by several women, announced on Wednesday March 3 that “the art, entertainment and event rooms will be able to reopen on April 2 at 33% of their usual capacity, limited to 100 people indoors, 200 outdoors. ”.

A limit which may be increased to 150 people indoors and 500 outdoors if the rooms concerned are able to test all those present.

Broadway will wait

However, the coronavirus has not left the American city. Even though the vaccine is fast approaching, 4000 new cases and 70 deaths are still detected there daily.

If professionals in the sector, interviewed by the New York Times, have argued that some structures would probably take this announcement to restart their activity, the bar is still too low for many.

For example, it will not be tenable for Broadway theaters to reopen their doors with so few people indoors, their gigantic productions in fact requiring a sufficiently large audience to be profitable.
