In the form of questions and answers, the Ministry of Labor published this Sunday a guide to teleworking after confinement. A publication announced on the Twitter account of Minister Muriel Pénicaud: “To achieve # deconfinement, companies must make the most of #teletravail. After advice from the social partners, today we are publishing a guide to help companies and employees in this organization of work, “she tweeted.
In this document, we learn, for example, that employers have the right to impose telework on their employees, and that they are not required to compensate them for the costs related to this work at home. It also reads that the employer must provide his employee with a computer for teleworking if he does not wish to use his personal tools, and that active workers in teleworking continue to be covered against accidents at work.
5 million French people telecommuting
This guide is intended for “companies which until now were not used to teleworking and which had not set up agreement and charter, which do not always know how to organize teleworking”, had explained the minister Thursday during Edouard Philippe’s press conference on deconfinement.
According to the ministry, around five million people are currently teleworking. “We also count on the responsibility of each company in particular to continue to use telework as much as possible and especially in Ile-de-France where it is crucial”, she added.
Union officials have criticized this initiative for wanting to keep hold of such a guide and are also considering organizing inter-professional bargaining on telework.
“If the result of the negotiations arrives in September-October, it is interesting for the future but it will not be operational for the next phase,” replied Muriel Pénicaud.
